Ilona Łojszczyk MSc Eng.

I graduated Biotechnology on Warsaw University of Technology the Faculty of Chemistry.

My collaboration with the BioMedical Engineering Laboratory began in 2012 during the research, which was conducted as part of the master’s thesis. My main aim was to develop a method of fabrication hydrogel coating based on poly(vinylpyrrolidone) for polyurethanes. The premise of the process was to improve biocompatibility of the polymer surfaces that have contact with blood. The tests showed that the modified polyurethane surface significantly reduces plasma protein (fibrinogen) adsorption.

Knowledge that my work may in the future help people caused that I decided to continue my research and start PhD studies in 2013. Currently, my work is focused on developing methods for surface modification of polymer membranes.
